There isn't much to say, really. I'm in my mid thirties and I consider myself an independent recluse. I call the Central Valley of California my home. I was going to refer to myself in the third person, but seriously, Richard doesn't like that.
There are many aspects of writing that I would like to work on: the writing process, character development, and rewriting.
I want to write stories with genuine characters and sincere stories. I try not to write happy endings (unless it serves the story) because I find it's like waking up from a bad dream. At the same time, I won't write ultra-real stories because, come on, you don't want to hear step-by-step instructions about making coffee and you don't read characters who do (unless it serves the story).
I'm becoming a stickler for "serving the story": things that don't serve the story, no matter how precious or clever they are, should just be jettisoned. Double for short stories, treble for flash fiction, I'm learning.
I hope you like what I write and I welcome constructive criticisms.
