I currently work coordinating adoptions through China, but am packing up and following my dream to live in Oregon this June. I came to this decision after my home burned and I barely made it out alive. I lost most of my things (saved the library, thank God) so now seems to be the best time to move. I'm taking off not knowing a soul in Oregon and camping all the way --the gypsy in me is unleased!

I have a BA in Creative Writing and a Master in Social Work. I began writing after a college prof suggested I take a creative writing class as an elective, stating that my essays were creative. I did, and writing soon became a form of therapy for me, more of a need, than a desire. I continued to take writing classes during my Psych major until was closer to a BA in Creative Writing than Psych. My desire to help others remained strong, so I finished my education with an MSW and worked as a psychotherapist for a couple of years before being drawn to adoption work. My work in adoption has been such a blessing and I even have the honor of being the goddmother of one of the little girls I helped bring home from China.

I'm not sure if I will stay in the field of adoption in Portland, but am certainly open to it. I will let those doors open where they may. Currently I am writing two daily meditation books for families who suffer from infertility and parenatal loss, both of which I, and most of the families I work with, have experienced.

Life is great right now and I'm looking forward to heading West and to its stunning nature and whatever adventures await me there... Charlene
