Raised in an English working class family of 14, I left the UK as soon as I knew how. I had itchy feet and wanted to experience new places.
At the age of 18 I married. My husband's trade was the key that let us out of the UK. We moved first to Germany and later settled in Ontario, Canada.
At the end of my 20 year marriage I was devastated but I very quickly learned the value of my newfound freedom. As a single mother I found myself feeling liberated - as if I'd been sleeping for the duration of my marriage. I had focused my time until then on being a loyal and supportive wife.
Now it was time to focus on me. I went back to school, changed my career and in my spare time started to write again.
My itchy feet still urge me to move from time to time, from London to Vancouver and now in Toronto where I found my second husband.
I currently work for a women's shelter, but I flip flop all over the place looking for a satisfying way to earn a living - I don't think I'll really be settled until I find a way to make a living from my writing.
If not for this new man I'd probably have moved many times over the past 6 years. All I'm waiting for is for my step children to grow up and then we'll be off to who knows where.
But wherever I end up, I will be writing.
