Born in Georgia; grew up playing baseball, watching the stars and going to church (Southern Baptist). Mother told me I was a writer early in life, but I was drawn to science and philosophy. Degree in Engineering; worked at Nuclear Submarine base before 'dropping out' to become a celibate Hindu monk for 17 years. As a monk, started a publishing company, travelled across country meeting teachers of all faiths in monasteries, mosques, synagogues, temples, churches and on reservations. Organized National Interfaith Retreats and Conferences for 6 years. Back to school to get a Masters degree in counseling. Left monastic life and got married, became a family therapist, teacher, retreat and pilgrimage leader, and author. Live on the Big Island of Hawaii with my wife and spiritual service partner, Ana. Survived a 6.7 earthquake and weeks of aftershocks while writing my first book, Light on Death: The Spiritual Art of Dying, which is published this year by Mandala Publishing. Have about a hundred (minimum) books in my head, and more are coming regularly in the dream state. Loving Hawaii with its Raw Power of Mother Nature and gentle spiritual breezes for balance. Hope to spend full time writing under a palm tree some day. Meanwhile I work full time as a spiritual counselor for Hospice of Hilo, journeying with people of all faiths and persuasions who are dying.
Hamsa's Genres: Spiritual and Psychology, Vedic wisdom teachings, Jungian personality concepts, Life Wheels, End of Life teachings, Yoga
