I'm 27, married to the frontman of an 80s tribute band and I live in an apartment barely big enough to hold all of my books. I read like it's my job - I'm never in the middle of less than 3 books at a time, and I can re-read something until it falls apart (literally - my copy of "Skye O'Malley" is in 4 pieces. Luckily, I just won a brand new, autographed copy of the re-issue). I haven't written a poem since I met my husband and I've started about 20 novels, none of which were completed. My goal for 2008 is to just finish a manuscript. It doesn't have to be a prize winner. It just needs a beginning, a coherent middle, and an end. I can't be bothered searching for symbolism and meaning in the books I read - I read to escape, and I write for the same reason. I'll be flat out with it - I read mostly historical romance, and I'm finding that it's quite enjoyable to write it as well. I have about 5 ideas rolling around in my head, and I've promised myself that by December 31st, 2008, one of those ideas will be down on paper. I'll do it. You'll see.
