Lauran Strait teaches commerical fiction classes and is a freelance writer and freelance commercial fiction editor. Widely published in Print and Online, her work also has been featured on NPR. She is a managing editor at a well known woman's magazine.

* The Managing Editor of Columns at Moondance Magazine

* A Community Education Instructor-WRITING/EDITING at Virginia Beach City Public Schools-Adult Learning Center. I faciliate 3 year round writing workshops and occasionally teach short story, self editing, and creative writing classes.

* A Freelance Editor and Personal Writing Coach (Self-employed)

Previously, I was:

* Acquisition/Associate Editor at NFG Magazine

* Editor at The Gator Springs Gazette

I've just established a 501c3 group-The Hampton Roads Writers of which I am the president of the Board of Directors. My goal with this group is the creation and implemenation of affordable writing classes for Hampton Roads (Virginia) writers at all levels. I also would like to promote local writers who are just starting out in the business. I also hope to establish an annual, high quality, writers' conference in Virginia Beach.

My print and online work appears in Dog-eared, The Gator Springs Gazette, Atomic Petals, Retrozine, The Copperfield Review, A Woman of a Certain Age, Moondance Magazine, Monkey Bicycle, Insolent Rudder, LongStoryShort, Edifice Wrecked, The Virginian Pilot, Whistling Shade Literary Review, Somewhat.org, The Green Tricycle, Reading Divas, The Angler, Salome Magazine, Quiction, Bewildering Stories, Tiny Lightsa flash in the pan, Down in the Cellar, Tuesday Shorts, and Six Sentences. A short story is forthcoming in HeavyGlow in May 2008.

My writing was featured on NPR's literary show, Word By Word in 2005.

I won NFG's 4th Great-69er contest in 2004.

Some of my other fiction and creative non-fiction appears in anthologies such as Random House's Knitlit the ThirdWe Spin More Yarns and Better Non Sequitur's See You Next Tuesday.

I have written 4 plot driven novels.
