General Guidelines - please read our guidelines carefully. We do not review submissions which do not adhere to our guidelines. Also, please review our online & print issues to gauge a sense of the what we publish
* Small Spiral Notebook welcomes unsolicited submissions of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. There is no particular aesthetic; we simply seek to publish the very best work we receive. * Submissions are accepted year-round.
* Please submit to either the online or print issue, but not to both at once.
* Please submit in only one genre (fiction, nonfiction, poetry) at a time.
* Simultaneous submissions are accepted only if you notify us promptly by email (submissions@smallspiralnotebook.com) if your work is accepted elsewhere.
* Responses generally take 4-12 weeks. If you do not hear from us after 12 weeks, please query us via email (submissions@smallspiralnotebook.com).
* Should we decline to publish your work for either the online or print issue, please wait three months before resubmitting.

Online Issue
* Please limit submissions to one story, one essay, or up to four poems.
* Stories and essays may be up to 3000 words long.
* Format: double-spaced (except poetry) Times New Roman 12pt.
* Please include your name, mailing address, and email.
* Submissions for the online issue are only accepted by email: submissions@smallspiralnotebook.com.
* Send work as either a .doc or .rtf attachment. Submissions pasted in the body of an email will not be accepted.
* If you are submitting poetry, all poems should be submitted as a single attachment.
* Submissions must contain your name and either a valid email/telephone number where you can be reached.
Print Issue
* Submit two (2) copies of your work.
* Please limit submissions to one story, one essay, or up to four poems.
* Stories and essays may be up to 5000 words long.
* Format: double-spaced (except poetry) Times New Roman 12pt.
* Please include your name, mailing address, and email.
* Please enclose an SASE for our reply.
* Please indicate the genre of your submission (fiction, nonfiction, or poetry) on the envelope.
* We do not accept submissions for the print issue via email. Please mail submissions to: Small Spiral Notebook, c/o Felicia Sullivan, Editor, 172 5th Avenue #104, Brooklyn, NY 11217.
* We acquire first North American serial rights, non-exclusive, one-time anthology rights, and online serial rights. All rights revert back to the author upon publication.
* Payment: a one-year subscription and two copies of the issue in which your work appears.
* Donā??t forget to include two (2) copies of your work!
Photography/Art
* We do not accept unsolicited photography/art submissions.
Book Review and Interviews
* We do not accept unsolicited book reviews or interviews.
