Iâ??m 40 years old and Iâ??ve lived in or near Tulsa, Oklahoma most of my life. I graduate from high school in 1984, but never had the opportunity (or now days, the money) to go to college. I enjoy writing and have been told by many people that I should write my life story, but I find that is a very difficult thing to do, especially considering the troublesome life that I have lived so far. I think of myself as a type of person who is very unluckyâ?¦luck has never really found itself lying beside me in my bed.
At age 11, I had to help rescue my nine year brother after he was accidentally shot by my 12 year old brother in the chest with a 22 rifle. He spent over a year in the hospital recovering, but it still left him paralyzed from the waist down, and permanently in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. The really sad part was my mom stayed with my brother in the hospital for most of the year, which left my father alone with his urges. Eventually the urges became more than he could bare, and he used me to satisfy his needs.
After escaping a life of torture from my father, at the young age of 17, I was raped by a police officer, which led me down a road of complete destruction. Authority figures had abused me all my life, so I did the only thing I could, rebel back against them. I let anger rule my life and all my actions. Since the age of 18, I have been in and out of so many different mental hospitals, drug rehabs and jails that it numbers too many to count. I have attempted suicide several times, failing because someone was always there to intervene.
Writing became my way to escape the tortures of my past. Letting others into my life, and letting them share my pain has helped me to heal more than any therapy Iâ??ve ever attended.
