I was born in New York State, the youngest of four. When I was fourteen, I had a spiritual awakening that changed my life.
Since that time, I've written poetry, but usually when inspiration strikes or I feel unable to sort things out or answer questions of the heart. That inspiration came from my relationship with Jesus Christ. Some might be offended by that name, or my claim, but knowing Him has brought me tremendous comfort and healing. Poetry has played an important role in my life. I married in 1970 and became a widow in 1987.
Lately, I've written more frequently as there has been more time, and perhaps a greater need. It's my hope that my writings will be an encouragment to those who read them.
ACCOMPLISHEMNTS:
"Eagles Fly That Way" has been published in several papers including the college paper while I was a student at Tompkins-Cortland-Community College. Numerous other poems were published in one of the local Cortland, NY papers, including "Eagles Fly That Way," "Life's Great Canvas," and "Stick Together." A long story poem, "Easter Mourning," was composed for a minister friend of mine to be used at an Easter Sunrise Services and subsequently was used in other churches.
In 2004, I completed a book of my original writings entitled, LEARNING TO FLY Is Never Easy, But It Is Essential. It's over 400 pages in 8.5" x 11" format and includes poems, short stories, and other original writings. I'm working on revisions now.
