I'm 19, and currently a student at Liverpool John Moores University. I am studying a BA Joint (Hons) in English and Media and Cultural Studies and desperately want to become a full-time, professional writer. I have been writing poetry, and occassionally short stories, for as long as I can remember but I never put myself out there to have it published until I was 13. After having my first published poem recognised as a real talent, I then knew that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Although I would like to write poetry full-time, I would also love to write a variety of other literary forms such as journalistic publications and editorials.
My favourite writers consist of Malorie Blackman, who is renowned for such novels as Noughts and Crosses, Pig Heart Boy and Antidote. Another of my favourite authors is the war poet, Wilfred Owen. My favourite poems from his collection are Mental Cases, Disabled and also Futility. Siegfried Sassoon is another war poet that I am a great fan of; mainly because of his writing style and his imaginative prose.
