I approached this site a little warily, but I'm now beginning to relax. I have no idea what I hope from it, only that it is a small step to beginning to put my work out there rather than hoarding it to myself and not being connected to anything else going on out there. So here I am.
I'm a writer by profession - though hardly to sing and dance about given that it's business journalism, mostly trade press. I also used to work in publishing. So I've spent endless hours reading and commenting on other people's work. I also worked for the UN and have lived in Egypt, India, Ireland and Nepal.
What really challenges me, torments me and inspires me is the intermingling of cultures and other cross-cultural themes including politics and particularly cross-cultural relationships: the cultures of South Asia especially.
I'm now freelance, which mostly means sitting at home drinking endless cups of herbal tea and pottering about a lot or staring out of the window at the mad and crazy things that Londoners do and are. I am not good at reading on screen so my time here is limited.
Please give me real criticism for my work, (as well as nice supportive comments if you feel so inclined!). Chop that word/sentence/paragraph; change that character/dialogue...rethink your structure...what the *** are you trying to say?.. whatever.
