The founder of Creative Thinkers International, a member of the Authors Guild, Inc., and the American Academy of Poets, the Savannah, Georgia-born author-poet Aberjhani is the recipient of numerous awards for his writings in different genres. These include: the CONNECT SAVANNAH 2006 Readers Poll for Best Poet and Spoken Word Artist; Writing Forum Poet of Month January 2007; the Choice Academic Title Award for "Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance," (co-authored by Sandra L. West); the Thomas Jefferson Journalism Award; and increasing critical acclaim for his fiction. He recently became an Amazon Connect Author and released his first Amazon Short, titled "The Harlem Renaissance Way Down South," on Amazon.com.
In addition to "Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance," Aberjhani is also editor of "The Wisdom of W.E.B. Du Bois," and author "I Made My Boy Out of Poetry." His most recently completed works are: the novel, "The Black Skylark Z-Ped Music Player"; the ebook, "Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black"; and the spoken word CD, "The Goddess and the Skylark, Dancing Through the Word Labyrinth."
This writer has been recognized as one of a handful of modern authors who continuously garner recognition for expanding and reshaping the boundaries of literary expression. He studied journalism and creative writing at: Savannah State College (now University); Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.; Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.; Temple University in Philadelphia; and the New College of California in San Francisco. His on-the-job training as a writer took place in the U.S. Air Force as a military journalist in Alaska for two years and in Great Britain for four.
