Goodbye Old Friend
You came into my life one fateful day,
Erasing all the loneliness - fears faded away,
A gift from God - you were sent to me,
My companion and confidant - your love set me free.
So many years we shared together - how I loved you,
Memories that I will cherish forever
Will comfort me when all I feel is blue
You gave me love unconditional and always
made me smile,
Having you in my life made it worth while.
Your time has come and your road must end,
How it pains me my most trusted friend,
Your gentle ways and happy sounds,
I know I will hear them still, though you are not around,
Please know that I loved you and miss you so much,
I know you are safe now and out of pain,
I wonder if you call my name in the gentle rain
Be free and be happy and rest in peace
We will meet up again someday
Until then I must be strong I will find a way
