In Loving Memory
She walked out in beauty that warm summer evening
A flower-filled portrait, young womanhood's face
A spring in her footsteps, a tinkling of laughter
Weaving a soft web of youth's special place
A mother's dear baby, a father's sweet darling
She dances through shadows, smiles sunshine in rain
Embraces the pleasures that life has to offer
Brings back the promise of good times again
Someone was waiting to stifle her thunder
Crushing the magical flame of her youth
Darkened the shadows through which she'd been dancing
Murdered the wonder of life's hallowed truth
May the thief in the night who has stolen her splendour
Be called to account at the end of his time
His claim to humanity he must surrender
Eternally damned by the weight of his crime
Let those who have loved her remember her magic
The truth of her being fill down all their days
Her music shall sing through, a light in their darkness
No moment obscure her, no memory erase

Lucy, this is powerful, haunting stuff. I'm sincerely hoping it wasn't 'personal', for obvious reasons.
P.S. - Hi from Appley Bridge! |

| Beautiful. Is this personal? |

| Great narative style. You'd most likely be good putting your hand to short stories as well, you have a good grip on naration. |
