Backs Against the Wall
You and me...
we will always be...together...
with our backs against the wall.
For sixteen months and fourteen days
I've marched these dusty roads,
With my back against the wall.
M-16, army green, it's out of my control,..
and my back's against the wall
Yes my back's against the wall.
We named our youngest Carolina.
She was born in Tennessee.
The army moved us to California,
to a base down by the sea,
and our backs against the wall.
Yes our backs against the wall.
You and me...
We will always be... together...
With our backs against the wall.
A man draws near with fists in the air...
and murder in his eyes,
and my back's against the wall.
White hot flash, smoke-filled sky,
it's out of my control...
and another daddy dies,
and my back's against the wall.
Yes my back's against the wall.
We named our youngest Carolina.
She was born in Tennessee.
The army moved us to California,
to a base near by the sea.
And our backs against the wall.
yes our backs against the wall.
You and me...
we will always be... together...
with our backs against the wall.
Seventeen months and fifteen nights
of fire, smoke and flies.
With my back against the wall.
Another bloody day there's been hell to pay,
It's out of my control...
and another child cries,
and my back's against the wall.
Yes my back's against the wall.
You and me...
we will always be... together...
with our backs against the wall.
yes with our backs against the wall.
