A Man of Wisdom

no critiques please just comments of your feelings as the poem will not be changed thank you

To a father of love
Understanding and knowledge
Didn't finish primary school
Let alone college
To this man amongst men
I do owe my everything

The terror he suffered
At the hands of his own
Never to pass it on
It was never shown
He was there when I failed
A life of teaching

He gave until
No more to give
From inside his heart
He taught me to live
His power his strength
Stood the test of time

To me he did
What he knew to be right
Stayed in the struggle
Never quitting the fight
He still stands sturdy
Even to this day

To be part of his life
The pleasure is all mine
If it was not for him
I wouldn't know how to shine
For this, I must thank him
And give him my praise

To you my dad I will love for all of my days

Quite a touching tribute to your father. Very appropriate with father's day coming up.

it is a lovely poem, you are lucky that you had the chance to put your feeling and gratitude in to words when he is still with you. I lost my father long ago, I wish I had told him how much he meant to me like this.
