If this is what I want, why do I fight it?
I pick up the pen and put it aside.
I fear I do not have the required talent.
That I'm the one they all laugh at.
Will this work? Or will it be another dream that is unfulfilled?
Do I look at other career avenues? Do I stick this one out and give it all I have?

Voicing what we have all felt at one time or another. Good thing you're here, where you can get input and encouragement.
Even long-time, published authors sometimes wonder if they have anything left. Or they look at past published works and see all the flaws of their earlier days. Or look at a current work in progress and then nitpick it to death. We artistic types have a tendency to be hyper-critical of ourselves.
Best advice - don't let self-doubts stop you from doing something you love. (This coming from a 44 yr old who has allowed it to happen to her. Well, no more! Ha-Ha!)
