Spoken from Chapped Lips: Time's Latest Acquisition

[cento]

I put on my overcoat and walked into winter '
Even my shadow was blue with cold,
As the frost on windows shattered, shooting out stars.

The smile of iceboxes annihilates me '
Snow in fat, hand stuffed flakes
Falls to the sea, slow and steady.

Your image in my eyes; dry frost:
Risk opening it to feel the ice hit your iris,
Amongst dark ' star gleaming leaves.

The sky empties itself of colour '
This dark ceiling without a star:
Like a Christmas tree naked of needles.

Cars on slippery slops are stuck '
Shinycold and as taut as plumskin:
Overexposed like an x-ray.

Decorating his shroud of shifting snow '
Its endless glitter is mesmeric,
For hours the snow will fall like rhythm '
Listen.

"Starters"

by Graeme Sandford

A taster of some of informal grae's early writing for your delectation. Mere morsels to tempt the tongue.

How it was 10-20 years ago.
