I Too Know the Endorphine Kiss

We stand swaying in lines and groups
Clustered in cliques like children on a playground:
Mouthing empty sentiments; recalling other peoples memories.

The stage fills our large, black pupils -
As dark as scorched country fields.
The pixlated screens bathe our faces.

We resemble entranced youngsters in winter:
Grasping others hands - wool on wool;
Fairy lights kissing foreheads with each flicker.

The notes vibrate the blood running through our veins -
Like dust on top of a speaker, as the atmosphere
Thick and heavy with euphoria, falls on our bare shoulders
As each of us stand in awe, radiating: glowing.

I can picture the scene before me. It reminds me of a school prize giving or a graduation. I like how you describe the emotions, "recalling other peoples memories", "entranced youngsters", "thick and heavy with euphoria"... This is a lovely poem Amy. Your poetry has a gentle quality to it, a wonderment. Love reading your stuff.

"Blue Water Baptism"

by Kimberley Linstruth-Beckom

"Blue Water Baptism" is my second collection of poems ranging in topic from views on death, God, friendships, and society. These poems were written in the course of ten years and show the "20-something" state of mind that transitions into a "30-something" mentality.
