"And For My Next Trick..."

The applause filtered out before it had truly begun
Just the odd single clap echoed round the auditorium
'Tada...' he said flatly, whilst
clutching the freak animal by its cotton wool tail
Seemingly half rabbit, half dove. It fought
for its escape and flapped to freedom
Emitting a loud miaow en route

Ta inviscera - I'm not sure about the bookshelf stuff yet as I'm very new, but TY... it sounds promising :)

colindardis - TY for the comment. Ahah, what is it? Who knows! Crap magician managed to cock it up. Should've been a traditional dove, thought he'd merely mixed it up with the bog-standard magician's rabbit... but ooooh no. It miaowed too ;)

Just a bit of fun. Most of mine are a bit on the dark and depressing side but this was a bit of a chirpy one :)

Ta again.

'The applause filtered out before it had truly begun' - a great line to set the scene with. Brief and very effective. This is going on my bookshelf...

It is a rabbit, a dove or a cat? Since it flapped, it must be a dove. Since it miaowed, it must be a cat. Since it has a cotton wool tail, it must be a rabbit. I'm confused! Interesting technique to mystify the reader, a nice trick indeed!

"The Buffalo Hunters"

by Nicholas Jakari

Violent, graphic novel set against the background of the South African revolution in 1994. The lives of five groups of people intersect during a bloody and violent Saturday night and Sunday morning. Not for the squeamish. Climax based on an actual gunfight involving the author.
