Fallen
Sparkling blackness follows me
through the wilderness as I search
desperately
for eternity.
My scarred feet lead my trembling heart
forward,
Deeper into the grim blackness of the night.
My soul bursts with hope
for peace in the end,
for truth and love,
and life as never before.
But as the moonlight disappears
beyond the canopy of trees,
the depth of darkness grows deeper still.
fear rustles the bushes
while self-loathing eyes from high above.
My thin sweater isn't enough
to hold back the chill of resentment.
My hat, too worn
to block the chaos creeping into my mind.
My vision clouds
as i stumble over lies,
and the cry of deceit in the distance
turns my head.
Now where am I?
Lost in the wilderness.
All focus on the darkness,
all hope gone,
and the Prize long forgotten.
I wander on aimlessly,
Oblivious to the danger
And am caught on all sides
by wrath and anger.
They sink their teeth in deep
and lock the grip.
Peace is stripped away,
thrown to the ground.
Love's devoured hungrily by these evil hounds.
They tear away endlessly
In pursuit of the core.
The core of me, my soul
My last link to the promised land.
It's ripped out mercilessly
and the world fades black.
As the pain becomes apart of me,
my heart deteriorates
and my mind grows reprobate.
I sleep
and dream for the last time
of the promised land.
