Music reviews-published in Prophecy magazine

Bettye LaVette
I've got my own hell to raise
anti-records

If God would ask me what music do I want to hear while I am dying it would be soul. And after listening to LaVettes new album I might really concider one of her songs. I hope I still have some time to think about that but for now I will listen to her couple mornings. Because her voice is so powerfull that it makes me fell like I can sing too and that makes me feel strong for the day. Bettye LaVette carefully chose songs written by female artists and put her whole soul and lungs into them. You WILL shiver when You listen to them.

On a fluffy sheet of calming electronica, you will dream of deep forests, unusual waterfronts and three Swedish fairies. They will be the ones who will sing about pretty common things but in a uncommon way. You will get carried away by the sleepy but strong voice and get awake by their fearless improvisation. You will fall in love with all of them and Your only escape will be three virgin maries and five times you have to say: I have nothing against Swedish jelly fish. And then You will wake up and You will buy a ticket to one of the German summer concerts and pee in Your pants when You see them life.

If everybody, who makes their music at home would produce even an inch of something that Mat Sweet [Boduf Songs] did, there would be no need to buy Q-Tips anymore. Boduf is very near to giving you a q-tip like ear orgasm. It is not just his whisky voice, it is the guitar, it pulls out the deepest melancholy in you and you don't want to stop in self-pity. He does surprise with some cymbal splashes and string interludes. It is definitely a folk dark red wine with a psychedelic aftertaste. Very delicious.

by Graeme Sandford

Offering a small glimpse of some of the words that informal grae - Graeme Sandford - has cobbled together over the years in an attempt to become rich and famous through his writing. Sadly, he is poor and unknown (largely due to his writing).

So, what are you waiting for?
