rebuild

shear skin, muscle, fat from me
like an illustration from gray's anatomy
digging down to a marrow-deep truth
a skeleton key into my youth
tripping the plate in a man-trap heart
re-learning the beat we tapped out from the start
innocent eyes see the world anew
and we reinvigorate the familiar view
learning how far adult perception can skew
the world and everything you do
i build myself back up like a medieval fort
a skeleton from jason and the argonauts
refleshed and enmeshed in a better life
by using the pen as an autopsy knife

wonderful metaphors and loved the Jason reference, one of my favourite old films! There's something to be said for dissecting your being, and writing certainly can cut the deepest. well said my friend.
