Ghost Writers on SI

(Apologies to Stan Jones, who wrote the original, and to a question on ghost writing on SI)

An old wordsmith got writin' on topics far and wide
His keyboard, it was burnin' as words come to his side
When all at once a mighty horde of red eyed men he saw
Come rushin' through the internet into Corel Draw.

Yipiie I ay, yipies I oh
Ghost writers on SI

Their pens were all on fire, their nibs were made of steel
Their ink was black and shiny and their breathing you could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they rumbled through SI
He saw the writers coming hard, and he heard their mournful cry

Yipiie I ay, yipies I oh
Ghost writers on SI

Their faces gaunt, their eyes all blurred, their bodies soaked with sweat
They're chasing hard to catch those words, but they ain't caught them yet
'Cause they've got to write forever on the paper white and dry
with pens spouting fire and keyboards making rsi

Yipiie I ay, yipies I oh
Ghost writers on SI

The writers went on by him and one called out his name
If you want to save your soul from hell awriting on for fame
Then wordsmith change your ways today, or with us you will write
Trying to catch those devil words across the endless page

Yipiie I ay, yipies I oh
Ghost writers on SI

Wait a minute, I probably remember the Roy Rogers version? I'm only 33 and I can't even buy a beer without my ID. Not that I object to being perceived as mature, but it's kind of funny. My parents used to play the song was what I meant by remembering it from my childhood...or the picture I use--if that is the source of the confusion--is not me, it's H.L. Mencken.

Wonderful Peter. Yep, it definatley has to be SI's theme song. I'll vote for it. Nice one!

This is really cute. I enjoyed reading it and the song did drift through my mind. It's not that old of a song. Is it? LOL
