a tiny declaration
Got caught in a snowstorm the other night,
The winter blast carried us to your house.
In the morning, long before you awoke
I went out on the balcony and watched these children shake the white off the bushes.
In pajamas and my coat,
I let the crisp morning breeze greet me and my bare feet.
I noticed the snow had left a pretty blanket on your plants,
So I scooped some into my bare hands
And began to mold my feelings with careful fingers and gentle palms.
I left my heart at your doorstep
Just to let you know that you were on my mind,
Then went back inside and crawled into bed with you,
A light trail of snow had followed me from the door.
