Outside the self

What's with the sadness in your eyes?
The woeful empty pitiless cries
Do you feel sorry for anyone else?
Mirror reflects the pain of ones self

Told medication will ease the pain
Tablet or two to keep you sane
Pushing the button of self destruct
Plate of humble pie lovingly cooked
Outside your room
Outside your door
Children eat scraps off a dirt soiled floor
People with cancer
People with aids
Famine in Africa
Death in the east
I choose life as bountiful feast

"Told medication will ease the pain

Thats what doctors do these days. Everything has a label to it and everything can be cured by a pill. Well, thats bullshit (sorry but it is).

"Mirror reflects the pain of ones self" this was my favorite line.
I like this poem; it's very well written, talking about the truths present in today's world. Good work!
