He Pleaded the Fifth

I gotta get up and act like nothing happened
Because 'NOTHING' just happened to me again

Once again he came to me head bowed, eyes calling to my soul,
Whispering the 'I Love You's' the 'I Need You's' the 'I've Missed You's'
That his lips refused to speak
All because he is too weak

Too little of a man to admit to himself and to me
That I am what he wants and what he needs and who he loves
To the point that when he closes his eyes...
I'm all he can see

I looked him in the eyes as deep as can be
And I asked this man 'DO YOU WANT ME?'
'Mmm hhhmm' he said but 'NO that's not an answer'
and so I licked his lips and grabbed his hips and stared him down and said

'YES or NO'

'YES' he said and with that answer...with that one word he filled my head
Hopes, illusions, dreams...flying so fast through my mind that I couldn't think
Roaring so loud that I couldn't sink...
deep enough into my thought process to hear that little fucking voice that was telling me...

'Please...tell him to leave...LET HIM GO,
He's going to hurt you again...and this you know...Please LET HIM GO

But my lips where already speaking my hearts commands
'Can't you understand that I'm your woman and you're my man' I said to him

'Tell me the truth
Tell me you're here because you couldn't take it anymore
Tell me you're here because today you realized that YOU LOVE ME'
And you know what he said to me...
He said 'I plead the fifth'...

He pleads the fifth...he pleaded the fifth on the grounds that whatever he said could incriminate him
As he stood before me
Me being a woman in love I tried and convicted this man...my man
Of the alleged crime in his mind of loving me

I sentenced him to a night of lovemaking
To prove to this court that YES he was GUILTY

But as always before something went wrong
You see I realized that the jury sold itself out

The jurors...My heart...my soul...and my needs
Found a man guilty of loving
But what they failed to see
Was that the victim...Me
Only existed in their minds

DAMN another fucking MISTRIAL

Now I stand before him feeling impotent before the facts and helpless before the reality
That there was NEVER anything there...That this man NEVER FUCKING CARED

And that he was innocent of the crime of loving me

Because he didn't...he NEVER did but this time wouldn't be like before
So I made a decision and spoke the only truth that I had left to speak
Before you put an end to me...I'm going to end this situation
Because as much as I may love you...I have got to love ME more
So you need to turn around...pick up your shit...and walk out that door
and NEVER look back even if you hear me hit the floor
because as much as I MAY NEED YOU
MY 2 SONS NEED ME MORE

So don't you worry one bit I'll be fine...WE'LL be OK
I only hope and pray
That God grants you good health and a long ass life
So that you can live, to live out a new version of regret for what you've done to me
EVERY SINGLE DAY

This was good; and it sounded from the heart. I hope you stuck by your words; when i heard....or rather read his answer, my mental mouth jaw dropped, and my eyes got wide. That was a dumb answer; she needed to through him out of her life.
Great piece.
