she slapped Enfario

She slapped Enfario when he kissed her that day
He couldn't believe it he thought she was nice
He pulled her hair, and he ran far away
She stood in the schoolyard her heart cold as ice

She slapped Enfario for what he said to her
He had asked her softly could he carry her bag
He stood his ground with not a hint of demur
Her heart started melting in that moment they had

She slapped Enfario for what he made her do
She had been glancing sideways and dropped her tray
Her face blushed scarlet there in the lunch queue
And she started loving him on that strange day

She slapped Enfario for what he said to her
Insisting to her he must know where he stood
She ran out the door and then on the spur
Of the moment called back she decided she would

She kissed Enfario for what he said to her
Said she'd been feeling the same for a time
She knew in her heart now just what would occur
He gave her the ring and said now you are mine

She kissed Enfario that night he danced with her
After marrying her in the chapel in white
The scene swept by in romantic blur
They went home and made love all the night

She kissed Enfario for what he gave to her
A cute little copy with face screwed up tight
She thought then that life could not become better
But it did, they're so happy and no longer fight

I don't think it's that easy, and when it seems so, I wonder why.

Wow, it's very refreshing to read contemporary poetry that offers hope.
