Flies In the Closet

Those hot Julys
Suffocating humidity
Sweat burning the eyes
Alone, drowning in
White noise buzz
Just hanging out with those flies
That were trapped
Struggling hard
Trying to escape
The brown sticky paper
Hung from furnace closet's ceiling
By maintenance man,
Rusty

He had a habit
Paying weekly visits
To fix things
Never needing fixed
Turning off,
Then back on
A valve here
Tightening
A screw there
Spraying bug killer
In the cracks
Snaking the pipes'¦
'¦and my mom
On bathroom tiles
And pink fuzzy rug
Home for the other
Cobwebs and cockroaches

Three pumps
Two moans
And one flush
Reigned eternal
During hellish Julys

But I'd just sit
Waiting
Patient, drowning in
White noise buzz
Occupying that closet
Watching those flies

That were trapped
Struggling hard
Trying to escape.

This is put together nicely. Interesting and to the point. I did feel sorry for the child and the flies.
