Birds Eye View

It seems the eyes have it . . .
Raptorial,
Piercing through to the soul:
Which is why birds attack the eyes,
Because they know,
Perceive
And cannot bear the striking glance,
The knowing stare.
A blank eye is frightening.
Who knows what connection is being made with the brain,
What opinion is being formed?
Certainly a primordial instinct is at work.
No compassion,
No emotion;
Just being at one with an unfeeling universe
Where the loving God steps aside
And lets us get on with it!

Savage but very pertinent. The imagery is realistic.
Just being at one with an unfeeling universe
Where the loving God steps aside
And lets us get on with it!
Strong verse !

Those hateful looks of condemnation...the evil eye. You say it so well, especially about the loving God stepping aside. This is rather a wicked little poem..and I like it! - Leah
