"Take off the mask"

It's morning and you dress up, but you're also putting on a mask
It's the mask of life; each of us wears, when he goes out
To face the world

It masks out our true identity, one we should be proud of, in the house
And when we face the world
It is the true us, that we mask, and for no good reason, maybe just
To feel belong to the rest out there

We crave acceptance, but should we sell our values in the process.
Shouldn't we all be who we really are, and let the world accept the
Truth even if it hurts
Accept us for who we are, without the fake ugly masks that just create a mess

So smile my friend and let us see your true face, oh, what a grace
Take off that mask, and we will understand that you are the best
Take it off and be yourself, and we'll love you even more then before

When did you stop wearing your mask? Sometimes all someone needs to hear is that it's okay to be themselves.. this would be a great one for teenagers.

Very well put. I totally agree that we are so afraid to be accepted for our inner self, the spirit that drives us onward and inot passion.
