the happy lady

I was sent to an orphanage when I was just a kid
Too young to remember whatever passed before
I grew strong hale and hearty on everything we did
My memories begin as I walked through that loving door

We had a teacher in our school who always made us smile
And when were were unhappy she would linger for a while
She raised our spirits up on high till they were in the air
It was wonderful for us to know that someone really cared

The happy lady was always there to hear your point of view
She always would be ready to see what she could do
My life was filled with loving peace when she was around
When all our hopes were in the air she brought them to the ground

She told us we could all achieve whate'ere we want to do
And if we did it happily their'ed be a bonus too
We'd fill our lives with lots of friends then we would be complete
Once we found our own true love and that, we would know when

She saw us through our early years and mapped our ways ahead
And when some trouble started she would turn it into play
She put all sorts of good ideas into our childish heads
And when we came to leave our home she saw us on our way

I joined a famous company rose quickly through the ranks
I still visited the orphanage to show them that I care
I owe the happy lady all my everlasting thanks
And as Ann her daughter grew up fast I wanted to be there

And as I fell in love with Ann she fell in love with me
We both were sure in our own hearts that happiness was the key
And when I become King then I will place her on the throne
This astonishing new happy lady of my very own.

I love the sentiments behind this poem. One adult, especially one teacher, can make a real difference. Again, very well done.
