MY COUNTRY

I love this land Australia, it is the place that I call home,
I Love its tall craggy peaks, of yellow and reddish stone
Rugged sandstone mountains of the Great Dividing range
Azure haze from gum trees which only nature can arrange
I love the arid outback where we grew the Golden Fleece
Grass brown and tinder dry where wonders never cease
This is a hot dry country of desert and fertile coastal plains
Drought and bushfires commonplace as well as flooding rains
We are the product of many folk from all around this earth
The sperm of our existence have made us what we're worth
There are sharks, snakes and kangaroos even koala bears
There is no other country if one sits and honestly compares
We love week end sports, footie, cricket and even rugby too
Competing with all our might 'til the players are black and blue
We like our beer and barbecues and even home made brew
Snags and beef and even prawns we cook on the barbecue
We speak a unique language a mix of the Queen's and slang
That puzzles overseas mates with that slurring Ozzie twang
We are a casual laidback mob of blokes and even sheilas too
We dig into pockets deep if you need help or are in the poo
We are a responsive vocal mob the pommies will sure agree
At the football, cricket or local pub if there you happen to be
So if you ever come out here and want a great and happy stay
Learn our slang and language and be aware of what we say

It is true that there is no place like home, regardless of what country it may be in.

"Walking Before Dawn"

by Mark Mihalko

In every haunted location, ghost story or account there is beauty trapped inside, a beauty that is crying to be left out for the world to see.
This beauty drove me to start Walking Before Dawn, a poetic journey through the unexplained.
