Loss

Nostalgia is
a faint glow
when compared
to this dull ache
of suffocation
inside my chest

Flooded
with longing
I drown in
rememberances
what will never
be again

Cynicism grips me
happiness seems lost
Yet hope is my drug
to try again
to move onwards

Better than
a lifetime
doomed to wallow
in stagnant pools
of tainted memories

Hi,
I really like your writing! You seem to be interested in some of the same themes and techniques as me :) I would really like it if you read some of my poetry, check out Drowning and Morning.

I admire this summary of reflection, it reminds me a lot of my own work. A few small suggestions:

"to this dull ache / This suffocation"- I'm prone to say 'ache of suffocation'

"Flooded / with longing"- Perhaps you might say 'flooding' instead, in that the ache is still with you, still coming along, still mounting up.

I love nostalgia. You did a nice job. I don't live in the past but I do have flash-backs. LOL The older I get the more, "It was a good year" experiences I have.
