A Poem for Ben

One summer between the light
a summer to live
a summer to die.
One summer to love
some summer night.,
Go to war as children
and die for old mankind.
This is America's story
of life, of death,
it's first, it's final,
it's dying breath.
What has the death committee
in store now?
Will we be brave and fight
or do we bow?
When will they realize
that to many
tears have been cried.
When will they realize
that to many children
have died for "old mankind'.
Go to war as children
and die like a man.
Go off to war, to fight
in another land.
For this is the land
of the free
the home of the brave
We the young must
go to war
for others dues
do we pay.
We go to war for those
in power and decisions
which are wrong.
We go to war to do
their dirty work
to prove who is strong
Yes, this is the land
of the free
the home of the riled
We go to war
or be exiled.
We must all soon
in this living hell.
We must all soon register
or waste our lives in jail

For this is the land
of the free
the home of the ..

i lost the rhythm and it spoke in a more hurried, emotional (and forgive me)'cliched' tongue .

This portrayed a very personal look at the state of the world today. Your title says, "to Ben", so I assume you know someone who is either fighting right now or lost his life fighting. Either way you look at it, it is very touching.
