A Stitch in Time

The earth pounds her fists
At the weight of antiquated rust
Holding hands despite the friction
Marked on - violated -
Dividing time'¦

Viewers are forced to look upon
How distant and close we are
In line - one after another -
In mockery - in vain -
Rumbling - mumbling'¦

Prisoners of its pace
We ponder life and count
Mesmerized and out of focus
Hypnotic dashes --
Some of us dare
To link on
In phantom chase'¦

A trail of history beating in rhythm
A squealing cry - memories of metal -
As Doppler effects echo to the prairies
Once an endless expansion
Now sutured with metal rods
That scorch'¦

Leading nowhere and everywhere

The temper tantrum
Infuriates silence'¦

Stopping
us
in
our
tracks

"The Maker"

by Isaac Brown

This short story reflects questions we asked as kids about how things were made by God and some of us are still asking some of the same questions (smile)
