The Scent of Summer Rain
I
When the sun shines,
Her strawberry blond tresses blush
Beneath her elongated eye lashes,
Blades of green, grass tremble and sway.
The English rose is enveloped,
In a pale, cream dress today.
Sweet scented neck,
Elegant and swift as the swan,
A halcyon surface
Where I plant my nectar kisses on.
Pupils dilate and reflect
The tender colours of a rose-coloured dawn.
As the heavens open
And the clouds part.
We stand in the downpour
And you search for meaning
In my warm, watery mouth.
With effervescent kisses,
You trace the silver-lining of truth
That leaves you without any doubt.
II
As the sun leaves the strawberry fields at dusk,
This won't bring her back.
Walks by the lake after sundown,
Where Swans are entwined
And silhouetted underneath the dreamless nights,
Won't bring her back.
But when the heavens open
On a hot summer's eve;
I close my eyes
And steal your kisses once again,
In the scent of wet grass and warm summer rain.
