Another Place,
Another Time
I
drive down roads that my father before me drove down,
I
try and picture in my mind what life was like back then,
An early morning
kiss off to school
And Paw is off to
work in the fields.
I close my eyes and
I can see it happening
A lifetime ago when
life was about family,
Sitting in front of
the fireplace
With grand paw
telling us all a story.
He speaks of houses
which had no lights
There wasn't asphalt
but dirt roads by moonlight
He tells us as he
rubs his calloused hands
Of how the men and
boys would till the lands.
They didn't have
much money than
But you knew a
friend was a friend
I want to go back to
the time that was then
It was a simple life
with simple men.
