Haunted Eyes

Let me tell you about
last night

How wonderful
it was

And how the night before
devine

If I could hold you
every night

I know I'd make
you mine

If to do I had
again

You know I would
find a way

Escape this life that
I lead

And brighten your
everyday

Cross sands of time
long past

Take their toll
on me

I am not the
first

Nor, I the
last

To have fallen on
haunted eyes

That become part
my sleep

Every turn that
I make

There your eyes
I see

Every new face
I face

Its yours the
face

That stares at
me

It's a beautiful, sad poem. I especially loved the last lines, those parts where this person can't face the loss, and sees in everybody the person who made her suffer.
Great write!

'If to do I had again'? Is this intentional Yoda speak?
Sort it out I would.
Is something missing before 'Take their toll'?
Loved it really.

Such an interesting look at lost love. Your style is unique, which gave this piece a voice of its own. You did a great job here. thanks for the read.

To face unconditional, our fears of loss of love makes life more bearable, especially when it is love of self we are to acknowledge.
Beautiful words, you write, I hope you are not lost to a love you wish to rekindle, or is it a search for you, and the love you can find in hearts center.
My decision to move to my native land has left me questioning, as I will leave a love behind. HE has decided to close down to an adventure that could open his eyes to a world yet unseen. Your poem touched my heart.
Suzanne I thank you.
