why didn't you
We
Are a lot alike, you and I; although
I don't know if you have
The same hatred
For me as everyone says I do for you.
Only time will tell. Will you
Read this, years from now, and
Maybe wonder at what I've known? Or will you
Even care? All I ever wanted was
To make you proud of me.
Own up to it! Why can't I make you
See what I see: memories which
Are expressly made in
Your image and your purpose?
Gone are the days when I was the
One you love
Only; gone are the days we could be civil on a
Daily basis. To
Be or not to be?
Your answer is my only real
Enigma

| Very emotional piece and very well written. I understand about the father issues...I went through a very similar situation. Anyway, I see the trick and it's cool. Too bad some fathers choose to miss out on something as wonderful as their child. Great work. |

I don't normally comment on my own work, but I feel it necessary to tell that this was specifically written about my father, who when asked to choose between my stepmother and me, chose my stepmother. I was 12 when asked to leave home, and I have never been back.
There is a reason why the title was left unfinished. Sharp readers will notice where the rest of it is; a little trick inspired by Lewis Carroll's poem "Alice". |
