There's a blood-boiling lust
in the young canine's eyes
When he leaps
only then
is he strangled
and this is why
the caged bird sings
to be free while the heart
is still beating
I have claws underneath
I am feral and leashed
by the image you claim to be seeing

-Great coherence between title and piece.
-Confinement/strictures, freedom in prison ... the bird IS song. Many cannot/will not reproduce in captivity. Some die.
