The grandfather

This is about a man I saw
Taking his grandchild
To the park
They ran and chased
Each other
Until it was dark

The fun never stopped there
As child was put
Into his pram
Then when the grandfather
Turned his back
The child climbed out
And ran

You could hear the childs
Laughter as he was chased
And caught
Back into the pram
He went and bribed
By the sweet
The grandfather had bought

Together they took
Turns in sharing
The treat
The child started laughing
As grandfather
Tickled its feet

I watched with delight
As they approached
Their car
The child screamed
With laughter
As grandfather snatched
The chocolate
Bar

They climbed into the car
And started to sing
A nursery rhythm
He drove off home
As I whispered
goodbye

What is a pram? I enjoyed the poem. It's sweet-sad. Sweet that the grandfather spent time with his grandson and sad that you feel the onlooker was wishing it were him. Another nice emotional piece.

A nice little encapsulation of an afternoon, though of course now I'm dying to know who it is that watches, and why he/she watches, and what makes them so sad. (I am a freak for stories, I'm afraid.) A very good sort of simple.

I think this is so cute. There is emotion and imagery in here. I love it.
