Pity the Birds

Pity the birds.
What means have they,
With songs for lifting souls
To soothe my torn out heart,
Quivering,
Tendered,
Upon this iridescent palm.

Very sweetly spoken in only 24 words. The poem flowed beautifully.

You write the birds cannot soothe the pain even with their songs. I enjoy how you turn this to make us feel sad for the birds when it is the narrator who needs comfort. This is very beautiful poetry.

I can not imagine how bird song could heal a 'torn out heart', but I guess if it works for you, why not.

nice. But I can't understand why the palm is irridescent? (and is it a palm tree or a hand palm?)

I'd also not use the word quivering... just cos of the whole mills and boon quivering association. Unless you like it that way.

Such a tender read.
cheers
