missing you

This is dedicated to my son

Craig who died last year

Aged 22

Missing You

I never realised
How short our time was
On this earth
Until you passed away
Now I wished you
Were still alive
Here today
Now

I have your photograph
Sitting above my old
Broken fire
As I sit and look at it
All day long from which I
Will never tire

Sometimes I feel
You're here with me
As your eyes follow me
Around the
TV room
Then I sit and wish
We could be reunited
Not later in my life
But very soon

I sit for many hours
Looking sadly
At your photograph
Wanting and wishing
To talk to you
And wanting to
Have a laugh

I miss you son
I always do
I just want
You to know
I will always
Love you

Des, this poem brought tears to my eyes which doesn't happen often. This is a beautiful tribute to your son. The emotion is very strong, very honest in this piece, and I thank you for sharing it with all of us. Wonderful write.

Teri asked me to read this poem by you as I, like many, have suffered tragedy. To be able to write of your loss under such circumstances is a testament to the love you have for Craig. I have now read two poems by you that express your spirit and bravery. God bless you for showing the rest of us the courage you have. You inspire many with your poems to move on and still love and cherish. I commend you for your writing and bravery again.

A beautiful tribute. My sincerest condolences and hope your memories of your son sustain you and bring smiles to your face. Writing about things can help heal a bit, and sharing your hurt is very important. Thank you for feeling comfortable enough here to share your words with us.
