Sunday Morning

A toe
Peeks from under the covers
Of the lovers
Who live in the apartment below

A hug
Is shared in the kitchen
By the old man and his son
Across the hall

A kiss
Blown before heading out the door
From the single mother
To her four kids on the second floor

A smile
For the man
I married - again
That shares the covers.

A typical Sunday on Central Ave
As this is where the love lives.

I love the simplicity of this piece that speaks volumes.

Thanks for the read, and keep up the great work.

I liked the rhythmic effect of beginning each stanza with a two-word line.
I agree that there's too little love-affirming poetry. Three cheers for domestoc bliss!

A smile
For the man
I married - again

Thank you for this poem! I enjoy reading works that extoll love's success and triumphs, as there is already a plethera of broken hearts to comfort amongst us poets. Yet to "marry a man again", that betrays the three-dimensional relationship of even an ideal love in this short and succinct poem: no pain, no gain...
