Like Candy
Taking candies from a stranger,
they never utter a word of danger.
You know it all already.
Lips previously forced together pulled
apart in a grin-
Joyful, ecstatic. Oblivious.
Your body cries out for more
even as you throw up the remnants of candy and coffee.
You can wipe your mouth but you can't wipe away your smile.
Years, it seems, since the first time.
The cappucino's waiting, so is the candy.
Swallow. They say you look sexy.
You don't feel sexy.
Here it comes!
That unmistakable grin, stretching across your mouth.
Psychotic, demonic. Still oblivious.
Tears force their way out of your eyes.
You don't want to grin.
Not this time.
You collapse over the bar.
