the Wanderer!

(the wanderer!)
The light of the moon
..and the star-less sky
the clear of the water
the smell, oh my!
The figure beside me
Strolling by my side
Comforts me, soothes me
Becomes my guide
Gives me hope of surviving,
Of inspiring, Of striving
Of pushing me to wander
Of drifting away, and ponder
On my decisions, and my devices
On my free will, my moves with my dices'¦
'¦I thank my companion in this expedition
a flick of nature, a switch of anticipation
but as i look around to feel my helper
to thank, to bow, to smile yonder
my glance sway to the shadow in the water

the shadow was mine all along
i was my own companion
the lone wanderer.

This poem has great rhythm. I can't help but read it again and again.

I agree with Sheri. This is a very pleasant read. Light, but with deeper meanings. Very nice.

And I remember "The Happy Wanderer." I will probably have it in my head the rest of the night now.

Your poem reminded me of The Happy wanderer a song we used to sing in school, the first line was Oh may I go a wandering along the montain track',when I travelled to the Northern areas in Gilgit it was a different wandering , the mountains were dangerously majestic, your poem has depth of personality and creates a sense of spiritual strength.Very effectively written.Proud to read a Pakistani writer.Best of luck for LUMS.

This has a very calming feel to it. Some beautiful images, and word choices. Much enjoyed.**
