Invisible
I saw you in a tree today
staring down at me
your eyes a thousand leaves
just a passing glance you gave
a countenance content upon your verdant throne
Your limbs swayed in graceful ease
conducting the symphony of cicada
as they weaved their deafening diadem
upon your leafy locks, mocking me
One reprieve I thought to receive
flew a bird upon my lap-
but it turned an indifferent head
and disappeared through darkening boughs
No need to stay and adore
I will not walk this way anymore
across the stream, around the bend,
your still there in the trees
following me,
yet you never saw me.

Barbara:
Your work is exemplary! All of it. Remarkable poetry that avoids being so abstract that no one can understand it. Not only do I understand it, but it reaches a deep place in my soul with haunting clarity. If you are not published soon, no one here will be.
Best wishes,
Your new fan,
John Doyle |

| I was a monkey in the tree, once maybe, but I so much more enjoy the fairy in the forest ideal... It is a lovely poem - full of questions and expresses all kinds of visual elements that carry me. It is elegant, yes, and opens the imagination... I love trees and their place in things. |

| this is a wonderful piece. reminds of Robert Frost's work. the verses are elegant, it serenades the reader. a wonderful poem. |

Well done, liked the added effect in the end of your verse.
