for h

the road is an unwritten tale
the journey is an unlearned mystery
knowledge is an uncurtailed learning curve
truth is a feather in the eye of the storm
and the shortest road between is a line
pen as kitano drawn through the thought
we sheath our tongues only after drawing blood
every exercise is a battle in unending war
the incomplete work of art no unfinished flaw
for who would be fooled by parentheses?
who would dream that a full stop is an answer?
passion is the root of a tree that umbrellas all
humility is the key that sets the phoenix free
and when the fires die down resurgence is a blink away

I am really touched by this piece of work Paul,

nothing can really describe my affinity to this piece. It has so many zen references to it. A lot of the poem seems so organic and deals with so many issues of the heart. I like your references to a journey, a writer's journey for I know we all walk it. You're right a full stop doesn't have to be the be all and end all. Once a poem is finished it doesn't neccesarily mean that one writing style can be adhered to permanently and also there is the issue of revising. There is always scope for polishing an old piece. I guess being a student of creative writing is something very different from school. As a writers of poetry and prose we can really learn and closely observe with wonderment the events and scenery that inhabits our busy lives...i guess it takes the viewpoint of a child to see this...but i'm working on it...

You see Paul me and you are quite alike...education by the didactic sense has only bred fear and a liking for dichotomous fact/false answers...I dont believe that observing things are like that...things and phenonemona just 'are' when you look at them without thinking.

Thankyou so much for this piece Paul.

Mish :)

You have captured some of the qualities of a writer who endeavours to push himself ever forwards in his work. Well done.

I don't know who this is that you're dedicating this to, but I love this line:
"passion is the root of a tree that umbrellas all" Absolutely beautiful. Your word usage amplifies the feelings expressed. Great write!
