Second Chance

Every second chance has come and gone
Your begging for forgiveness embedded in lies
Nectar-sweet words softly spoken into my ear
The guarded fortress of my heart I opened
Allowing you to enter, to hold me tenderly

I thought the eyes could not lie'¦I was wrong
Terrible sorrow reentered my life when I loved you so
Why am I to pay with my forsaken heart,
That you so blithely destroyed'¦without thought
You killed me and yet you ask for a second chance

I fear love will never enter again into my soul
That the very entity of love has let me go forever
An empty unworthiness to ever feel warmth again
Apologetic and alone now you say sorry
Too little too late, I've moved on, you made your mistake

Forget you knew me as I live in love with an image
An idea of all you were to me, of what I saw
The beat of my life slows, barely able to pump blood
My extremities cry out but I've let go now, I'm ready to go
Perhaps soon, hopefully soon, I'll tell my maker I loved

With all my heart, once upon a time in a fairy tale dream
There are no more second chances, I'm dead

I have feel jade and spite seeping off of this piece. It's very strong, very abrasive yet very poetic. I like this feel. You definately expressed yoursel fully in this write. great read!

This is a very deep look into the kind of man you are, Robert.
'Terrible sorrow reentered my life when I loved you so'...that line in particular struck me, as a man who was willing to forgive and forget at one time in his life, because he loved her fiercely, but was hurt too often and too much to let it go again. Your words drip with pain, like your life blood that you speak of. But as painful as love is, it isn't worth giving up on life, as there are those who need you in theirs. We can learn from your words, although bitter at times, it's experience. There may not be second chances, but I believe there maybe fifth and sixth chances, as from my own experience, every one before that was a total screw-up. lol. Anyway, as always your words are still beautiful in their pain, as you are a man who tells it all from the heart. Thank you for sharing. ~Bon

For every one that has ever been betrayed by the one they love.
